What to expect in yoga and meditation classes ~
In the yoga and meditation classes I teach, I mostly draw on my training in kundalini yoga and meditation, but I would not say these are traditional kundalini yoga classes. I have practiced yoga of various styles for many years and draw on many traditions and my own personal practice. In these classes there is a focus on meditation, breath work, and connecting to intuition and personal power. It is a practice that helps regulate your nervous system, helps focus the mind and can help you get in touch with feelings and experiences that usually lay beneath the surface of conscious awareness.
The layout of the class is usually chanting, breath work and postures and poses, sitting meditation which may involve breath work and/or chanting, relaxation (laying on the back), and a final meditation practice. This is a general outline, each class is unique and may differ slightly from this layout. People of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome in these classes. You can adjust the practice based on your ability and intuition. It is helpful to have a yoga mat and/or meditation cushion for the classes, but the practices can be adjusted to what is presently available for you.
These classes are 1 hr long and serve to tune you into your heart center and deeper truth. They also provide the body with vitality and serve to bring stillness to the mind.
If you are just starting out with a practice, yoga or otherwise, remember that it takes time to build a practice and begin seeing inner and outer transformation. I encourage you to trust the process and go at your own pace, allowing for your own unique unfolding.
